Biography

Laurence P. Greenberg, Esq. was born on May 12, 1966 in Forest Hills, New York. He graduated from Roslyn High School in 1984 and attended the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1988. Thereafter, he attended Brooklyn Law School where he graduated in 1991 with a Juris Doctorarate in 1991. While at Brooklyn Law School he was President of the Student Bar Association, 1991. He was admitted to practice law in New York State, May of 1992. Since 1992, Mr. Greenberg has been engaged in the private practice of Matrimonial and Family Law. He has served on the Family Law and Family Court Committees of the Brooklyn Bar Association.

Mr. Greenberg has handled every aspect of divorce proceedings, including litigating issues of grounds, custody, visitation, child support, private schooling, add-on expenses, spousal support, equitable distribution, counsel fees as well as setting aside various types of matrimonial agreements (i.e. prenuptial agreements, separation agreements, settlement agreements).

He has handled over 200 trials or hearings during the last 15 years.

In May of 2007, Mr. Greenberg had Supreme Court Justice Joan B. Lobis unanimously reversed by the Appellate Division, First Department in a leading case on the issue of grounds for divorce, namely, Gross v. Gross.

In recent years he has had a number of Decisions of Interest published in the New York Law Journal related to a variety of matrimonial topics, including Charap v. Willett (regarding electronic discovery), Raihan v. Chowdhury (regarding confirmation of referee's reports) and Rogers v. Rogers (regarding voluntary discontinuance).

In 2010, he was asked by New York Law School to be a Guest Lecturer for a course taught there entitled "Anatomy of a New York Divorce".

He lives in New York, New York, and is married with two children.
